I have fibromyalgia which for those of you that are unaware, causes cronic pain and fatigue. For me. the hardest thing about living with the pain is the fact that nobody can see a wound or any other reason for pain and many of them just assume that I am not hurting! Even my adult son and his wife are in denial about me and the disease simply because they can't SEE it! My son has never come out and said anything to me, however I can tell by the way he often looks at me that he thinks I'm faking! It is really hard emotionally as well as physically because I sure could use some help with so many things! They don't even think of offering because they don't realize what level of pain I operate most of my days at! It is difficult emotioally thinking your own children think you would lie about hurting and not having any energy! Sometimes the fibromyalgia consumes my whole day! It can last for several days before I can force myself up and active! Those days are hard emotionally as well because I would much rather be playing with my grandchildren!!! I also have fibromyalgia, and I am Bi-Polar and chronic depression. I am on many meds. They just put me on a medication called Lyrica and It has been less than a week but I don't feel the debilitating pain that ladyhawk1996 describes. It was just approved in July by the FDA. I still have confusion and see a therapist weekly. But it gets hard to concentrate sometimes. My career was a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist. and as you know that is a stressful job in a busy office or hospital.( Would you like someone sticking you with those problems?) I was working 2 jobs before my breakdown, now there are even days I don't get out of bed, or afraid to drive. There also days at a time I do not sleep or sleep all the time. I think it depends on the situation. I am going on year 2 of trying to get disability and go to court this December. I have already filed for bankcrupsy a year ago and my mother died the month I filed so that even extended it and made the situations worse. As I see it. With some of the Psyhc meds I am on it would be to dangerous for me to work.I got fired from one of my jobs for taking Percocet that I was prescribedfor my pain.I did not take them at work. I took them before going. It didn't effect my work till I had a breakdown one day, for I had alot of problems at home.I feel I couldn't even work at home doing transcription or other jobs because I never know how I am going to feel. I would like to get back to my old self...Hopefully with Gods help I will.
